Post lockdown

17 March 2021

You will no doubt have been relieved to hear news of the UK Government’s roadmap out of lockdown. If you’re unsure of how restrictions will ease over the next few months, you’ll find a summary here.

If you’re returning to our accommodation

Our doors remain open for students able to return to campus. Please check with your university regarding their plans, and what you need to do before you return.

Staying safe

While it’s exciting to see that there may be an end in sight to future lockdowns, it’s still important to be aware of the restrictions still in place and observe them to keep yourself and others safe.

We’re still closely following Government guidelines, and working hard to keep our accommodation Covid-secure. Please continue to observe the ‘hands, face, space’ rules at all times.

If you need to self-isolate, please let your accommodation team know immediately so they can keep you and your fellow students safe.

House parties

Please remember, mass gatherings, including house parties in halls, are not allowed. Under current legislation, anyone found to be attending illegal gatherings of more than 15 people from outside their household may be fined £800. This will be doubled for each repeat offence up to a maximum of £6,400.

Socialising

  • From March 29, the rule of six (or two households) will apply to gatherings outside
  • No earlier than May 17, the rule of six (or two households) may extend to indoors if it’s deemed safe
  • No earlier than June 21, the Government has announced it hopes to remove all restrictions on social distancing.

Thank you for your support

We’re so proud of the way the majority of you have responded to this crisis. You’ve shown incredible resilience and resolve under restrictions, and we’re grateful for your support.

We’ve all come so far in the last few months and we’ve made great progress in slowing the spread of Covid. Let’s try our best to ensure we continue to do all we can to keep the infections down.
